Introduction

Fairway ("we," "us," or "our") is a golf trip management application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Fairway mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address — used for account creation, authentication, and trip invitations
• Name — displayed to other trip participants
• Handicap — used for scoring calculations and leaderboard standings
• Home course — displayed on your profile

Golf Data

• Scores — hole-by-hole scores you enter during rounds
• Round and trip data — trip details, course information, tee times, pairings, and team assignments that you create or participate in
• Statistics — calculated from your scores (e.g., scoring average, fairways hit)
• Awards — computed from trip performance data

Scorecard Photos

When you use the scorecard extraction feature, photos of scorecards are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic) for processing. These images are used solely to extract course and score data. We do not store the photos after extraction is complete.

Automatically Collected Information

• User ID — a unique identifier generated by Firebase Authentication
• Authentication provider — whether you signed in with email, Apple, or Google
• Analytics data — screen views and app usage patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
• Crash data — error reports to help us fix bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to provide App functionality:

• Create and manage your account
• Organize golf trips with other participants
• Track scores and compute leaderboards
• Generate trip awards and recaps
• Improve app stability and performance

We do not:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
• Share your data with data brokers
• Profile you for purposes unrelated to the App

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google Cloud)

• Firebase Authentication — manages user sign-in and account security
• Cloud Firestore — stores trip, score, and profile data
• Cloud Functions — runs server-side logic (e.g., scorecard extraction)
• Firebase Analytics — tracks app usage to improve the experience
• Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports to fix bugs

Anthropic (Claude API)

• Used solely for processing scorecard photos to extract course and score data
• Scorecard images are sent to Anthropic's API and are subject to Anthropic's data usage policies
• Images are not retained after processing

Apple and Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, those providers handle authentication. We receive only your name, email, and a unique identifier.

Data Retention

• Your data is stored as long as your account is active.
• You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the App.
• When you delete your account:
  • Your profile information (name, email, handicap, home course) is permanently deleted
  • Your scores in trips you participated in are anonymized to preserve trip data integrity
  • You are removed from all trip participant lists
  • Your Firebase Authentication account is deleted

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
• Firebase Authentication handles credential security
• Firestore security rules restrict data access to authorized users
• Scorecard photos are processed ephemerally and not stored

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data through the App's Profile screen
• Update your profile information at any time
• Delete your account and associated data from within the App
• Export your data by contacting us (see below)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
